Nestled within the Bucking Boar Cornfield Maze property at 494 Ngaruawahia Road, Te Kowhai, The Waipa Ridge offers something no hotel ballroom ever could — genuine rural soul. Paul & Roz Christensen have been farming and hosting guests here since 2013, and now invite you to celebrate one of life's most important milestones in this extraordinary setting.

Elevated on a plateau 22.5 metres above the Waipa River flood plains, with panoramic views stretching to the Hakaramata Mountain range, the venue is wrapped in established gardens, native plantings, and mature trees that have been shaped by Tensen Landscapes over many years.

We host a maximum of 50 events per year — keeping our focus on quality over quantity, and giving every couple the personal attention their day deserves.

Maze Shed One — Reception Space

Maze Shed One is a 120m² open-sided venue with a concrete floor and a dedicated dance area — perfect for your wedding breakfast, band staging, and drinks service. A stretch marquee or sailcloth tent can be added over the outdoor area as an optional extra, hired at cost from our preferred rental company to suit your guest numbers and style.

Roz Christensen has poured her heart into this property since she and Paul first established the Bucking Boar farm in 2013. She knows every corner of the land, every tree that catches the afternoon light, and exactly how to make a celebration feel effortless, warm, and completely personal. Her natural warmth and genuine care for people is felt from the very first enquiry call right through to the last song of the night.

Whether you're planning an intimate elopement or a full celebration for over 100 guests, Roz will work with you every step of the way — listening to your vision, answering every question with patience, and going out of her way to make sure your day is everything you dreamed it would be and more.
